It carries out many social projects that help to improve the living conditions of the local population. Its commitment is expressed through action plans for local economic development and healthcare. The group also has a continuous improvement program and pursues an active policy of risk prevention, impact limitation, and environmental protection. It reports regularly on these policies and strives to maintain an ongoing dialogue with all stakeholders.
Communication with stakeholders
Dialogue and transparency are two key aspects of AREVA’s industrial activity. The Group reports regularly on its operations in Niger. It maintains close relations with local authorities, civil society and local populations.
Protecting the environment
Detailed environmental inspections of SOMAÏR and COMINAK’s mining operations are carried out regularly. In addition, a risk prevention policy is implemented to ensure maximum security at their installations and protection of the environment.
The health and safety of workers and the local population
AREVA has made safety an integral part of its activities and instituted a prevention policy. It bases this commitment to safety on principles governing organization and actions and on transparency. In particular, it makes sure that its activities are not harmful to employees or to local populations.
A strong social commitment
AREVA implements an ambitious social policy in Niger that includes programs for local economic development, education and emergency aid. The group will allocate 6 million euros a year over the next five years to these programs.
