Droit à l’Énergie

Miller benefiting from the electrification program for areas surrounding Arlit, Niger

The Right to Energy

The urban community of Arlit, the NGO Droit à l’Énergie and AREVA came together to provide electricity to 4 areas surrounding the city.

This project contributes to the fight against poverty by encouraging the reassessment of the sanitary environment and the creation of revenue-generating activities. These activities                                                                                               require access to electricity: handicrafts,                                                                                               sewing, food preservation, etc.

A financial partnership

AREVA is committed to this project as a financial partner alongside the urban community of Arlit, Droit à l’Énergie and its Niger affiliate, the Collectif pour la Défense du Droit à l’Énergie au Niger.

An initial pilot phase was launched in the “North Boukoki” area. In the second phase, 3 other areas—“South Boukoki”, “Tchetcheni” and “Bagdad”—will be connected to the Nigelec network.
