AREVA has contributed to the financing of a maternity clinic and health center for the Boukoki 2 quarter of Arlit. The keys were officially handed over to local officials and community representatives on March 13, 2012.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by administrative and tribal authorities, representatives of the AREVA mining companies in Niger, health department officials, and representatives of civil society and the populations that will benefit from the facilities.

The mayor of Arlit took advantage of the occasion to point out the efforts that the AREVA mining companies are making to improve the local population’s living conditions, especially in the area of healthcare.

AREVA is investing substantial sums in support of healthcare. Another maternity clinic is under construction in the Boukoki 1 quarter and nearing completion.
