Niger: AREVA renews aid for women’s healthcare

The Nigerien health minister receives the donation of medical supplies

January 06, 2014

On December 31, 2013, AREVA made a donation of supplies for gynecological and obstetrics care that will go to medical centers in the Arlit and Iférouane districts. The gift reflects AREVA’s desire to improve healthcare for people living around its mining sites.

This donation follows action taken by the AREVA Foundation last autumn aimed at providing easier access to healthcare for women living in rural communities in these two districts of northern Niger.

Attending the official ceremony for the donation were the minister of health, the governor of the Agadez region, several directors from the health ministry, and the societal affairs coordinator from IMOURAREN SA, who represented AREVA in Niger at the event.

The minister of health, health authorities and local people expressed their gratitude for this donation, which will reduce suffering among women living in the rural areas of this region.
